The loss at Halloween Havoc did nothing to stop Bron Breakker’s drive to defeat Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Championship. Ciampa gave the upstart credit after using everything in his arsenal to finally put him down, but both Superstars seem to believe they have unfinished business.
Since his first loss to the titleholder, Breakker has been chasing Ciampa, pinning The Blackheart in a WarGames Match and willing to run through everyone to get another opportunity. Ciampa finally took his chance to respond to Breakker by welcoming the rookie back into the deep end with a Willow’s Bell following Breakker’s victory over NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong.
Did Breakker learn enough from his first encounter with Ciampa to reach the summit of NXT 2.0, or will The Blackheart devour the up-and-comer?

The holiday season has brought out the giving spirit of NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose as she graciously gave Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade an opportunity at her title in a Triple Threat Match at New Year’s Evil.
After finally putting down Dakota Kai, Gonzalez turned her sights back on the NXT Women’s Championship, immediately calling for her rematch against Rose after Kai cost her the title. Unfortunately, Big Mami Cool was answered by Jade, who had a similar grievance with Toxic Attraction after Rose nearly reinjured her shoulder.
Eventually, Rose entered the argument and decided to face both Gonzalez and Jade at the same time. With the odds now stacked against her, can Rose keep NXT 2.0 toxic? Will Gonzalez run through friend and foe to reclaim what’s hers? Will New Year’s Evil usher in the “Generation of Jade”?

The Ring General is back!
In his first appearance since dropping the NXT UK Championship, WALTER has returned to lead Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner to victory over MSK & Riddle at New Year’s Evil.
Wes Lee & Nash Carter have been reeling since losing the NXT Tag Team Titles to Imperium at Halloween Havoc, going on an epic journey to regain their swagger. With help from “The Original Shaman,” MSK was able to get their mojo back and return to challenge Imperium for the titles with Riddle by their side.
As Barthel & Aichner scoffed at the idea, WALTER made his return to belittle MSK. Riddle refused to stand by and let his protégés be insulted, challenging WALTER and Imperium to a showdown at New Year’s Evil.

AJ Styles will make New Year’s Evil phenomenal when he returns to NXT 2.0 to confront Grayson Waller.
Styles has not taken kindly to having his name coming out of Waller’s mouth, appearing on NXT 2.0 to call out “The Arrogant Aussie.” After a bitter exchange, Styles welcomed a fight from Waller, but he slipped out the ring and left The Phenomenal One hanging only to show up the following week and do the same thing in a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw.
Now it’s time for Waller to put up or shut up as the former WWE Champion pays him a visit next Tuesday night.

Who is the premier champion of NXT, North American Champion Carmelo Hayes or Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong?
Each Superstar has been claiming that his Championship is the top title in NXT and the time has come for these Superstars to put their money where their mouths are, by going title for title at New Year’s Evil.
Since cashing in his NXT Breakout Tournament contract to swipe the North American Title, Hayes has been on a mission to elevate the title to the “A Championship” of NXT. Meanwhile, Strong has been on the hunt for “Big Money Fights” suspending the stipulations for the Cruiserweight Title to take on all competitors, including Odyssey Jones and Joe Gacy.
With both Superstars declaring their superiority over NXT 2.0, it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed resulting in a ringside melee.
